It is the event that no book lover wants to miss: every two years, the Passa Porta Festival invades Brussels. Over the course of a weekend, from 24 to 26 March, more than a hundred Belgian and international writers, whether established authors or new voices, came together to share ideas and their passion for literature in cafés, theaters, bookshops, libraries and other public spaces.

On Friday 24 March, the opening night of the Passa Porta Festival “How to Read the World” focused on literature and politics and brought together the Turkish Ece Temelkuran, the Iranian-French Négar Djavadi and the Columbian Juan Gabriel Vásquez in Flagey. Two days of meetings followed, a Parcours totalling more than 80 events: debates, readings and some surprises in 20 venues in the city centre.
On Saturday evening, the literary Parcours ended with ‘Duality’ in the Beursschouwburg, the centre of the festival. Several rooms, a dozen fresh artistic duos, blending disciplines and languages, and the possibility for the audience to move from one room to the next.
On Sunday, two major events concluded the weekend: Annie Ernaux at Bozar; Herman Koch and Connie Palmen at the KVS.

The leitmotif of this edition: risk-taking in our uncertain age. That is what transpired from the subjects chosen by the authors and the way in which the authors literally and figuratively crossed borders and blended genres. Convinced by the necessity of this audacity, we invited you to (re)discover them with us.
